Tips to share with your mates in The Lounge, whilst you share a drink or two.

Look Ma! I Can Fly

  • Control-shift in the set workshop to move it up to altitude, and then in director mode, shift + drag to make its flight path.

Losing Your Head

  • There are workarounds for controlling head movements. Take a look at Steelblade's very clever movie Jet Pack Test to get an idea...  This was achieved by defining a second camera and getting the actors to look at it, then whizz it about the place. (copy credit to Poulet Noir)

Put Shadows Behind You

  • Have you ever loaded up some poly-heavy mods and found that MS ground to a near-halt?  Turn off the shadows and bingo - workable MS! You can turn them on right before you render, if you need to. (copy credit to Poulet Noir)

A Long Conversation

  • Long audio files can sometimes cause problems within Moviestorm, especially if you use the text box to provide hinting for the lipsync engine. It's advisable to edit your dialogue into shorter segments. This can also be useful for adjusting the timing of a performance (gestures, etc). (copy credit to equinoxx)

Teh Flying Dutchman

  • You can tilt the camera by using the camera in "free cam" mode. Any way, (in camera view) you left click on your subject until you get the mode where you have the two little arrow tips on the left and right of the screen... you "grab" whichever arrow-tip and tip the camera left or right... if you want to move the camera in an orbit, you'll need to temporarily exit that mode move the camera where you want it, then re-establish your tilt. If something odd happens with the camera path, you can just move along the timeline and tilt the camera how you like it... In techspeak this is known as a "Dutch Tilt". (copy credit to Fulkster)

Primitive Techniques

  • One thing you can do in placing things in "difficult" places is to scale a "prim" block to the height that you want to place something , then take the item(s) and place them on top of the block (near the edge that you are placing your items)... then move the block (with the items you want to place in a specific place) to where you want them to appear (the items on top of the block will move with the block...) then delete the block. (The same problem occured when trying to attach Christmas stockings to the fireplaces.) Hope this helps...
  • ...and another thing I'd add... if you like a set that takes a while to set up, then save it! (copy credit to Fulkster)
